Wikipedia Change #5

I edited Moorestown High School again. I added the addition of Kevin Kirkby's athletic accomplishments. I forgot to log in though, so my edit didn't show my user name.

Class Topic #1: Local Search

When going over class notes I stumbled upon the idea of local search and how google and yahoo are looking into this. I then went to google.com to see if they were already implementing some basic local search and I found some keywords that work for local search. I am from Moorestown, NJ so I used this as my local town to find information on. Here are some search terms which returned not websites but direct information.

"Moorestown NJ movie times"
"Moorestown NJ map"
"Moorestown NJ weather"
"Moorestown NJ food"

These are just a few examples of search terms which returned direct information. To expand on the "Moorestown NJ food" search, one can use google to find local businesses in their town by typing their town name followed by what type of business they are searching for. An example of this would be:

"Newark DE pizza"

which returns links for the locations of the local domino's, papa john's, and pizza hut. I feel that this new local search capability of google will slowly make the need for yellow pages obsolete, as I have not used a yellow pages since I have found this feature on google.

Wikipedia Change #4

Today i edited Domino's Pizza on wikipedia. This was probably a bad choice to edit because it is so popular but i was able to find information to update. I changed the number of franchised stores to the correct number and added the total net income for 2006.

I updated Carbon Leaf's recent album "Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat." I added the positions in the Billboard Charts the album had during it's release week.
